The Dark Arts Village came about in concept in 2016-2018 when I was working in Tailored Access, the CNE (computer network exploitation) or operators called the “function” a “dark art”, meaning creating exploits and access, sometimes persistent, in-memory – since it was a relatively difficult skill and field to master – outsiders would say those are the “Dark Arts” of hackers and operators.
Over the History of the CNE practitioner, ie: those that obtain covert access, we were are often referred to as Dark Artists, Dark Art Practitioners. In the case of this village, we are a project – we rely on volunteers and experts from all over the world to help us teach interested individuals. The entire association members are an attempt to pay it forward and teach these skills to others.
